Nurse Practitioner Fellowships

Adult Nurse Practitioner Fellowship

Adult nurse practitioner fellowships are site-specific (MGH or DFCI/BWH). Some of the clinical rotations and electives are listed here:

Inpatient consult service: 6 months
Hospice: 2 weeks
Home-based palliative care program (MGH only): 2 weeks
Inpatient palliative care unit (DFCI/BWH only): 1 week
Outpatient clinic: 1 weekly clinic for 6 months
Electives: 4-8 weeks

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Fellowship

The pediatric nurse practitioner fellowship consists of the following rotations:

Inpatient consultation (BCH): 9 months
Ambulatory experience (BCH, DFCI, home visits): 9 months (integrated with inpatient consultation)
Hospice rotation (personal/rental car required) (CD): 1 week
Inpatient Palliative Care Unit (BWH): 1 week
Pediatric long-term care (personal/rental car required) (SHPC): 1 week
Elective: 4 weeks
Vacation: 4 weeks

Qualifications

  • Masters or Doctorate of Nursing from an accredited program

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by July 1, 2018 as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in MA

  • Prescriptive authority for controlled substances in MA

  • DEA registration for controlled substances.

  • Adult fellowship applicants: Certification in adult/geriatric primary care, adult acute care, or family nurse practitioner.

  • Pediatric fellowship applicants: Certification in pediatric primary care, pediatric acute care, or family nurse practitioner.
